VR Music Theatre Prototype - The End of Time

Inspired by Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for The End of Time, composed and first performed in a prisoner-of-war camp in 1941, this project reimagines the work as an immersive VR Music Theatre installation. Translating its music into a spatial audio-visual environment, the experience explores Messiaen’s idea of escaping historical time through sound, imagination, and transcendence.

Combining virtual reality, spatialised sound, site-specific design, digital visualisation, and motion tracking, The End of Time transforms a historical musical composition into an embodied theatrical experience where music is not only heard, but spatially encountered.
